Louis Gex Obussier was born in Canton de Vaud, Switzerland. He married Lucille sometime before 1790 and they produced six children. Mr. Obussier came to the United States in the early 1800s on behalf of Swiss merchant, Jean Mennet to manage land supposedly in Virginia that Mennet had purchased. The land proved to be non productive and Obussier moved on to Vevay, Switzerland County in Indiana Territory where he was a farmer and wine maker.
